Butcher’s began with Fred and Alice and the butcher shop they opened in Rugby, Warwickshire. Over 30 years, Fred and his four sons built up a thriving family business, rearing and selling livestock as well as preparing and selling quality British meat to local markets and butchers as far afield as Birmingham and London.
In the 60s, Butcher’s began supplying the grocery chain J Sainsbury’s. Then, youngest son, Graham, combined his passion for dogs and his in-depth knowledge of meat to the development of the original Butcher’s tripe recipe for dogs. As tasty as it was nutritious, Butcher’s Tripe dog food was an instant success when it went on sale in 1987.
